THE LEGEND OF
Mother Handsome
Rough, boisterous, and unapologetically herself, Mother Handsome was a legendary tavern keeper of the 1800s.
At her spot on 11 Mile & Woodward Avenue—just down the road from us—she built a local haven where travelers found strong drink, good food, and a welcome that felt like home. She earned her nickname not for her looks, but for her grit, her presence, and the big heart she brought behind the bar.
We created this space in honor of women like her—the bold, the resilient, the ones who make their mark and bring people together.
So come in, get comfortable, and raise your glass to all the badass women who keep the world turning.
